Creative Community Building through Cross-Sector Collaboration: A European Mapping & Consultation InitiativeThe Centre for Creative Communities, in partnership with the
MELINA Project, Greece, was commissioned by the Ministry of Education in Greece to carry out this study of collaborative practices and policy among culture/arts, education, community development, youth, health and social services in 9 European Countries: Belgium, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.
The study aimed to describe and analyse the complex picture emerging from the blending of traditional sectors, as reflected in the current shift towards policies that combine social and cultural objectives. These policies are often expressed as changes designed to ‘fight social exclusion’ by expanding ‘access’ to services and encouraging ‘participation’.
Terms of reference, findings and results of the Mapping project are published in full on this website (a full presentation of the mapping project can be found in the
Mapping Room) A book (2004) based on the results is available for sale from our
BOOKSHOP section.
